Moving day in Amsterdam

This is how you get furniture into an apartment in an old canal house.  The stairways are too narrow and too steep to carry furniture.  Even the new canal houses have a beam with a hook extending out the front.  The last photo shows a beam and hook to the neighboring building.  Just add a pulley and rope and you are ready to move in.  They did have a guy in the street blocking traffic when they lifted the love seat into the building.
