Friday Nov 29, 2019 – Vienna Albertina Museum (written Dec 6, 2019) second of two posts today

The photos of my walk to the Albertina show that Vienna is a beautiful city. It is a great place to visit and stay. There is a lot to see, and a lot of history that I know very little about. We have visited Vienna twice, but didn’t stay long enough, because of course we were just here to see the “1001” paintings that were on display. We have visited the Albertina before to see the Durer painting “The Hare” in 2012, when we were living in Amsterdam. When we were viewing that painting an attendant told us that the picture on display was actually a copy. The actual painting is too delicate to have on display all the time. So I don’t know if “The Hare” on display today is the actual painting. The Durer exhibit was also crowded. Durer was one of the greatest German artists of the Renaissance period. He was a painter, draftsman, and woodcut print maker. His drawings and prints have great detail, which is a plus and a minus for the viewer.  You might notice from the photos that most of the works are not large; in order to see this detail you have to get close to the picture. The result is that there is often a crowd right in front of the work. This is a problem for goofs like me who just want a photo so I can move on to the next one. Just one of the many troubles have to work through. I know you feel my pain.  Sue here.  We did stay in Vienna long enough both trips to have some yummy goulash and sausages and the famous Sachre Torte.
