May 14, 2026 New York Mets Baseball game

Today we took a break from Museums and opted to go to a baseball game.  Last year we went to a Cubs vs Yankees at Yankee Stadium.  The Cubs won the game!  Today we were going to see the Detroit Tigers vs the Mets at Citi Field.  The game started at 1:10 PM, so we had a late breakfast and then walked around Times Square a bit before we headed to the park.  We took the #7 subway to the park.  As you see in the photo there were NINE subway lines at the station where we were to get the #7 to Citi Field.  It took us awhile to find the place to get the #7 going in the right direction.   There are at least three levels, so it wasn’t easy.  About three of the folks we asked for help didn’t give us the right directions, but eventually we got some help and found the train going in the right direction.  Fortunately we left early so we still got to Citi Field well before the game started.  The stadium was never crowded.  It was an entertaining game.  The Tigers took a first inning lead.  The Mets scored in every inning from the 3^rd to the 8^th.  They hit 5 home runs and won 9-4, so we got to see the Red Apple a lot.  We of course ate dinner at the ballpark.  We had hot dogs and popcorn.  Sue got kosher hot dogs because there was a long line for regular hot dogs, and there was no one in line for the kosher dogs.  It was an entertaining game.  We waited at least a half hour after we left the stadium before we took the train back to town so the train wouldn’t be so crowded.  Back in town we went to Ray’s Pizza for dinner, it was close to our hotel.  Of course a photo was required.  It was a pretty good day.
