Latin Mass
There were about 30 people at the Mass. It is a beautiful old church. SS Peter and Paul is also know as the Parrot. Catholic churches were not legally allowed in Amsterdam in the 16th century. They were tolerated as long as they were hidden. The original church at this location was apparently hidden behind a bird trader's shop. So the church got the code name of Parrot. The two photos are just a little blurry because of the low light. We have been to masses celebrated in foreign languages before, but combine a foreign language with a very small crowd and the result is underwhelming. Especially after we've become accustomed to the vibrant celebration of the Mass at the Parish of the Holy Trinity. We probably won't go back which is too bad, because it is only a 10 minute walk from the apartment. To get to the Parish of the Holy Trinity requires a ride on a tram and a bus and takes about 45 minutes.
