The 4th of July was a beautiful day here in Amsterdam. After doing some shopping at IKEA in the afternoon we went out for ice cream after dinner. After a Google search we decided on the Monte Pelmo IJs shop in the Jordaan area. This shop is a mile (1.8 km) from the apartment, so it had better be good. We eventually got close we thought, but couldn't find the place. Ray stopped two very cute girls with ice cream cones to find the place. Their last bit of advice was that we would know we were getting close when we saw a long line. As we got closer we saw more and more people with ice cream. The line wasn't too bad, we had to wait perhaps 15 minutes. The names of some of the flavors were easy to identify, but other names didn't give us a clue. Sue asked about one flavor that had vanilla and chocolate, we were told that it tasted like a Snickers! That was enough for us. The shop closes at 10 PM and we got our ice cream at about 9:45 PM. The pictures show how light it is even at that time. It was still light by the time we got home.

The Westerkerk (Western Church) has the tallest steeple in Amsterdam. Rembrandt was buried here but his grave has never been found.
