2026 03 30 San Francisco
Saturday evening we stayed at a hotel at the Portland airport. Sunday morning, 3/29 Rae took a bus from the hotel to the airport to fly home. We set out on our drive from Portland to San Francisco and then to Los Angeles. The plan was to try and drive Hwy 1 along the coast. Well, we were able to travel on Hwy 1 for some of our trip. Most of the trip we was on Hwy 101. Below are the travel times and mileage for the four travel days; my estimates using Google Maps.
Sun 3/29 Portland, OR->Eureka CA (424 miles 7.5 hr.)
Mon 3/30 Eureka, CA-> SF MOMA, CA (312 miles 7.5 hr.)
At SF MOMA we saw a better substitute for a 1001 painting in a Private Collection that I had already counted. After the museum we walked about 20 minutes to see the Bow & Arrow sculpture by Claes Oldenburg on San Francisco Bay. After all that we drove less than an hour north over the Golden Gate Bridge to San Rafael CA to visit Sue’s cousin Denise and husband John, on Sue’s BIRTHDAY!!!! We stayed overnight in a San Rafael hotel.
