Christmas Canal Parade
The parade was on Saturday evening, the 15th. Earlier in the day we made our usual trek to the Lindengracht Market. It is my favorite and only happens once a week. Lots of stalls for fish, poultry, veges, bakery. They also sell a lot of other stuff...bike accessories, toiletries, clothes. You name it, you might find it there. It is about 4 blocks long. There are some food stalls too. We almost always get a brat with sauerkraut or a hot ham sandwich. Oh yes, and fries and stroopwafels hot off the grill are also sold there.
On our walk to the market today we went past the shoe store that Ray photographed. This is a real shoe shop. I don't know who shops there, but those shoes are for sale and they are not cheap.
The weather turned nasty just as the parade was about to start. Ray is not a fan of parades, but he humored me and we went. It was okay. Not nearly as long as the Gay Pride Canal Parade thank goodness. Ray left before I did. I stayed until the end. Actually it got better after he left.
Sunday after mass we went to a concert at a nearby church. The University of Glascow Chapel Choir performed a Christmas program. It was not very lively and a little somber. Afterward Ray reminded me that that church is run by Opus Dei priests. I am sure they had to approve of the music that could be sung in the church.
A pretty nice weekend.

Love the parade. The concentration camp must have been depressing to think of the suffering that went on there. Glad you moved on to happier things. Apple Strudel at the Christmas markets? Helen
