Haarlem
Haarlem is only 15 minutes away by train. So we went back to Haarlem to see an exhibition of drawings by Raphael at the Teyler Museum. It was really an interesting exhibit. Raphael made detailed sketches for his paintings. Raphael also had many assistants to help him with all the work he did. There was a noticeable difference between Raphael's sketches and those of most of his assistants. The exhibit had a special display where the experts disagreed if one drawing was by Raphael or if it was a copied by one of his assistants. More than you wanted to know I'm sure.
The Teyler Museum has a large collection of old scientific instruments, globes, magnets and so forth. Sue was relieved that I just walked through the room and didn't stop to read every description. This gave us enough time to return to the town square for a very nice lunch before we took the train home.
