Wednesday Sue and I went back to the Soane Museum to see “A Rakes Progress” by Hogarth.  We didn’t see it on our first visit.  It is one of, if not the most famous paintings by Hogarth.  We then took a bus ride to Harrod’s to buy Tamme a birthday present.

Thursday Jude and Tamme were leaving for Paris and we were going to Cambridge to see another painting.  We were up “early” because our train was at 10:14 and the Eurostar to Paris was at 11:30.  We all got off without problems.  We had an appointment at 12:00 to see our painting in the Study Room.  The painting, #406 for us, is “Camels” by Larry Rivers.  They had it set up ready for us when we got there.  The young lady had us sign in and then asked why we wanted to see this painting, and of course I told her about the 1001 list.  Interestingly she said that two more couples recently had asked to see this painting.  So we may not be the only goofs out there!  This is another great museum, it wasn’t crowded and it’s free.  After a terrific lunch I went back to the museum and Sue went off to explore the town.  She came back early to get me, because there were so many neat buildings to see.  Central Cambridge is really a picturesque town with old buildings and narrow streets, just lots of charm.  I tried to photograph the “Corpus Clock” but the lighting was bad.  Anyway it is a very interesting device.  If you are interested this is a link to the Wikipedia page about the clock.  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Corpus_Clock

After walking around a bit more we went back to the train station and took the express back to London.  The ride is less than one hour.  We will probably rest tomorrow and may see some sights locally.
