First post today November 8th

Today we are off to visit two museums, MAAT the Museum of Arts, Architecture and Technology and the Berardo Collection Museum.  As our usual practice we took a city bus to the MAAT, in Lisbon this took about 45 minutes, but we get to see a lot of the city.  Lisbon has a train line that runs along the Targas River.  This museum is on the river side of the railway, this means there are many stairs to climb to get to the museum.  Once we climbed the stairs there is a walkway to the roof of the MAAT.  This provides great views of the city and the river.  The MAAT had two of its three halls closed for the installation of new exhibitions, a bummer.  The one exhibition was actually very interesting.  I think this exhibition looks like the Great Pacific Garbage Patch.  I added a photo of the Patch from the internet.

The Electricity Museum is right next door to the MAAT.  How lucky can we get?  The museum is a decommissioned power plant.  Has Sue mentioned all the things she does for love?  This is one of them.  We didn’t stay too long, just enough time for a few photos.  Then it was off to the Berardo Collection Museum.  This is the main Modern and Contemporary Art Museum in Lisbon.  The museum is based on the collection of José Manuel Rodrigues Berardo.  I had to make a tough (for me) decision not to photograph ANY of the paintings.  If I did take photos I would probably still be there, alone as Sue can only take so much.  It is really a great collection of 20^th & 21^st century modern and contemporary art.  It has works by at least 67 artists who have works on our 1001 list, and many of these works are in Private Collections.

After three museums it was time to get back on the bus and go back to the hotel to rest up before dinner.
