I mapped out four buildings near us in Barcelona designed by Antoni Gaudi, the architect who designed Sagrada Família. So after some grocery shopping we set out to find these buildings. The first building was Casa Calvet that was about a 15 min. walk from the apartment. On our way we came across another church, Església del Sagrat Cor. This is Catalan that translates to Church of the Sacred Heart. This is a Jesuit Church, and it was open so we went in. There area we could walk in was between the church’s nave and a small chapel. It was about 15ft wide x 30ft long. There were glass walls on each side of this walkable area that kept anyone from going into the church or the chapel. I took a few photos and we went back outside. The building that contained the church was much, much larger than the church. This ‘should’ be a link to Wikepedia page about the church, more than you want or need to know. It is now a primary and secondary Municipal co-ed school. Sue also scouted out the Mass times AND that the church has St. Ignatius of Loyola’s Sword on display. So we will have to go back to see the sword and maybe for Mass.

Then we were off to see the Gaudi building Casa Calvet, it was just a few minutes’ walk away. There was another interesting building next door, Casa Amatller so I took a few photos of that one too. Then it was off to the next building the Casa Batlló. We had visited this house to attend a roof top concert back in 2018. The concert was a group of flamingo guitar players with flamingo dancer. Unfortunately for us it started to rain just after the show started, so that was the end of the show. But we did get to tour the inside of the house on our walk up to the roof. The inside has similar design features as the outside. The concert was at night, so no photos then, today you are lucky, I got a few photos of the building. The building next to Baltiló is another neat building called Casa Amatller designed by Puig i Cadafalch, a contemporary of Gaudi. In fact there are several other adjacent buildings on this block, and it is called "mansana de la discòrdia" or block of discord, and this is link to information about this block.
And of course I have (too many) photos. There were also at least two Gaudi buildings in the area that we didn’t get to today. This will give us something to do tomorrow, so you have something to look forward to.
