Jan 14, 2024      walk to Plaҫa d'Espanya

Sunday was a very nice day, sunny with the temp about 17 deg C/63 deg F.  So we decided to walk to the Plaҫa d'Espanya, which is about 2.6 km and should take a bit over a ½ hour.  That is if we walked and didn’t stop to take photos every other minute.  We were not the only people out for a walk, as you can see from the photos.  It was a very nice day.  I belated realized I should put in the apartment’s address, if for whatever reason you want to map out our walks.  Anyway the address is Pl. de la Vila de Madrid, 4 Barcelona. 

I have to tell you about the footie (soccer) game between Real Madrid (RMA) and Football Club Barcelona (FCB).  The TV at the apartment has a Real Madrid channel as part of the cable package.  It shows old games from years to a few months ago.  But you don’t have to know Spanish to watch it, if the one channel in English isn’t showing an English language show.  Before we went out we saw the RMA channel had people talking (Spanish) with a countdown clock, so we figured it might show the final of the Spanish Super Cup at 9 PM.  So we went out for dinner at another tapes restaurant, which was very good, and got ice cream on the walk home.

Back to footie. The match was in Saudi Arabia, go figure.  Well, when we got back home the channel has the game on. But all they showed was the Real Madrid coach standing on the sideline, nothing else.  I guess you must subscribe to a different channel to actually watch the games.  Imagine watching the coach of the Chicago Bears on the sideline while the game is played, we can’t either, so we didn’t watch as you can imagine.
