Oct 12, 2024        Belfast

Saturday morning we were off to Belfast, NI by train. Belfast was opening a new train station on Sunday Oct 13. Our train stopped at the last stop before Belfast where we were picked up by buses.  It took us at least 45-60 min. to the Belfast bus station.  We Google Mapped our way to our hotel. Fortunately a kind Irishman helped us to take the correct busses, because he was going far enough with us to get us on our second bus.  We reached The Harrison Chambers of Distinction without any problem.  After we settled in to our very nice room, we set off to the Ulster Museum. It is a small art museum, but many other areas about design, animals, science, etc.  It seemed to be aimed at children, and there were a lot of children at the museum.  After the museum we went to church that wasn’t far from our hotel.

The hotel is run by a very interesting and social lady.  She, and her friend sat with us as we had a meat & cheese board, and glasses of wine.  After that we talked with a young man who worked at the hotel about how to get to a National Trust Institution, the Mount Stewart House, which had a 1001 painting.  It was going to take several buses, and every time I used Google it gave me different routes and number of busses.  He had us take a taxi to the main bus, and then another taxi to the house; and the same process coming home.  We NEVER take taxis, we just don’t.  But he convinced us that it was the best way to go.  So that is what we were going to do tomorrow.

Just a note on this photo album, when I open the albums the first three rows of photos just appear as blank spaces.  But when you click on the first blank space you will see the photo and my comments.  I don’t know why this is happening, but I hope you can also see the photos. 10/15/24 the album opened normally for me today
