Bob and Joan arrived at the apartment Wednesday just before
8:00, their flight arrived almost an hour early. I was waiting outside to be sure the taxi
driver could find the apartment. The
taxi ride cost them £100! They were
pretty tired so we had coffee and tea and talked most of the morning. They tried to take a nap later in the morning
for a couple of hours so that they could stay awake until bedtime. Bob couldn’t sleep very long, so we walked
over to the local church, and that is why there are photos of the church.
When Joan was up and able we went to a tapas restaurant in
Camden Town in the early afternoon, and of course it was very good. We then went to the Camden Stables Market so
Joan could get a photo of the Amy Winehouse statue. Sue tried to buy some Cheetah patterned shoe
laces for her new boots that we had seen earlier at one of the stalls, but they
weren’t long enough. So we’ll have to
keep looking. After that excursion we
came back to the apartment for some wine and snacks. The apartment opens on to a garden (backyard
to us) and we sat outside and had crackers and nuts with the wine, and beer for
me. After we finished off the wine Bob
was still hungry, so I took him to the Mexican restaurant next to our old
apartment. You had to be there, but Bob
ends up getting samples of food from the two young guys sitting next to us. To repay them, Bob bought them and himself
shots of tequila, I passed as I’d already had several beers. And someone had to be able to get us home. Tomorrow we’ll probably get them to the
London Eye and maybe to the Tower to see the Poppies.
