We had a great day.  We saw five paintings at the Royal College of Art storage facility this morning.  A young lady met us and led us to the facility, but she left us with two of the guys who move the paintings around.  We talked with them a bit as we looked at the paintings.  They have a little different view of the art.  After that we went to the Tate Britain to see a special exhibition of J.M.W. Turner’s Late Work.  This was going to cost £30, so we decided on plan B.  We went back to the Royal Academy (RA) to take the free guided tour.  This was a highlight of the entire trip to date.  I won’t bore you with the details, but our guide, a lady our age was terrific.  I have to mention the room at the RA where Darwin’s and Wallace’s work on evolution were read out to the Linnaean Society for the first time in public.  You may know the story that both man had reached almost the same conclusion about evolution.  You can see this web page for more info: http://evolution.berkeley.edu/evolibrary/article/history_14  I just love this kind of association with history.
