A bit of an adventure today on our trip to the Beecroft Art Gallery in Southend.  I made the mistake of using the address on the Museum’s web page to plot our path to the museum from the train station.  Long story short, the Art Gallery is around the corner from the station.  We took a 20 minute walk to the “old” location.  We eventually got back to the Gallery and saw our painting.  I often wonder how these small places stay open.  There were less than 10 visitors, including us at the gallery.  It is a city gallery so I know how it stays open.  Maybe in the summer there are more visitors.  Southend is right on the ocean and maybe people visit in the summer.  Painting #492, “Habitación No. 23” by Fernando de Szyszlo is about a fragment of a poem written by a friend of the artist.  The painting does actually reflect the poem, I think, but it still isn’t one of my favorites.  But this type of art like Modern, Abstract, Expressionist, etc. takes more work to appreciate than the more familiar Renaissance and Impressionist art that we are familiar with.  Enough of the art commentary for now.  We did get some more good news today, it appears that the Tate Stores may arrange for us to see five or six more paintings.  Tomorrow we see five more at the Royal College Stores and Friday we go to the Royal College to see one more.  We could get to 500 before we leave the UK.

The gallery had an exhibition of women’s swim wear, so we took Sue’s photo modeling one of the swim suits.
