We’ve been back on the Blue Plaque trail and we’ve seen about twenty in the last two days.  Karma has struck again.  There is a Karl Marx plaque about 150 meters from our front door!  The plaque isn’t blue, more of a REDdish brown.  It would have been great if it was just RED.  We also went to the Foundling Hospital Museum today.  The Foundling Hospital was founded in 1741; it was Britain’s first home for abandoned children.  William Hogarth (I may have mentioned him before) was one of the founding Governors of the Hospital.  He supported the Hospital by donating a portrait of Thomas Coram to the Hospital.  He also encouraged other artists to donate their paintings to the Hospital.  The result was the first public art gallery in Britain.  So now you know why we went.  It has paintings by some of the most famous British artists of the 18^th century.  We are now trying to finalize some of the details of our trip through Italy.  That is all for now.
