June 5, 2017       Monday Bolshoi tour and Novodevichy Cemetery

Our hotel was only a couple of blocks from the Bolshoi Ballet.  They offer small tours in English and Russian, but you have to pick up the tickets the day of the tour.  The story would take too long, but it was a real circus.  The guy giving out the tickets didn’t speak English, they only give out 15 tickets for each tour and there where probably 30-40 people there for the English tour..  The short story was I went on the English tour and Sue “eventually” got to go on the Russian tour.  The crazy thing is that they do this tour four days a week.  You would think they would have a better system, but they didn’t ask me.  The tour was just okay.  The main stage was being used, so we really didn’t get to see very much.  As you can see from the photos the lighting wasn’t good.  After this fiasco we went to the Novodevichy Cemetery to find some famous graves.  Sue’s photos at the Bolshoi are better than mine, so I’ve added them to the album.  Her photos do not have any comments.

The weather in Moscow was pretty good on our first day, but after that it got cold and rainy.  The rain was usually light and intermittent, but today it was steady and harder.  This made the search for graves pretty tough.  As you can see from the photos that we found a few famous graves of people we know.  That was it for the day, because we were going to St. Petersburg Tuesday morning.
