The Kumu Art Museum was open today so after breakfast at the hotel we set off.  We took a tram from nearby that took us to the park where the museum is located.  On our walk through the park to the museum we were passed by an official motorcade with lights and sirens that pulled into a building we were passing.  We could see military people assembled and other tourists in the park gathering, so we joined them.  The comments on the photos explained what we observed; an official from Mongolia was met by Estonian officials, who then inspected the troops and then they went into the building.  We then continued on to the museum.  The Kumu Museum contains Finnish art amazingly.  We found our painting, which is a highlight of the museum.  There was a tour group (aren’t there always tour groups?) going through so we didn’t linger.  We now took a couple of buses to the Tallinn Airport for our flight to Warsaw.  The only bad think about the flight was a group of about 6-8 lads (some not lads) who were drunk when they got on, and continued to drink on the plane.  They were standing in the aisle at the seats just in front of us.  Sue pointed the open liquor bottles to an attendant who just told them they couldn’t drink it.  They of course said ok and continued to “hide” their drinking.  We guessed that they were a work group because at least one of the drinkers was a bit older, like he might have been the boss.  The worst part was that we and the “drunks” were in exit rows.  Thankfully we did not need to use the exit rows.  But it could have been disastrous if their exit row was required.  We survived, but it did give us something to complain about.  We may write a scathing email when we get home.

 

The train in from the airport was pretty simple and our hotel was across the street from the train station.  The Polonia Palace was a WINNER!  It was elegant, the breakfast was terrific even for me, there was vodka and champagne (that we didn’t have).  Sue picked out restaurant not far from the hotel and we had another wonderful dinner.
