Monday March 26, 2018      Nancy – Domrémy Joan of Arc’s home – Epinal – Remiremont – Nancy 

The photo at the top of the post was taken in Stanislas Place, the center of Nancy.  The statue if of Stanisław I Leszczyński who was King of Poland, Duke of Lorraine, etc.  The building behind the statue is City Hall.  It is a beautiful square rivalling Krakow’s square.

Joan of Arc’s birth home is about one hour from Nancy.  The house is small, so it only takes a few minutes to visit.  There is a small museum that has a 20 minute film about Joan.  It was worth the trip. 

The next stop was Epinal, about one hour away to visit the Musée d'Art Ancien et Contemporain, that has the painting “Job Mocked by his Wife” by Georges de La Tour.  The museum is in a very new/modern building.  They have some very nice paintings besides the La Tour, but it is the highlight of the museum.  

The third stop was at the Musée Charles Friry in Remiremont.  This was about a half hour drive.  This museum is apparently in the Charles Friry’s house.  The museum has all the items that he collected, too many to mention.  The museum’s most important painting is another Georges de La Tour, “The Hurdy Gurdy Player.”  

Tomorrow morning we (Sue) will do some laundry, and then off the visit Metz to see the sights.  There are no paintings on any of my lists.  I included these three photos because I know you would want to see them.
