It’s Sunday and after mass we decided to do one of the walks
from our guide book. This one is a bit
outside Rome, the Appia Antica and is in a straight line, so we thought we
would take it easy on a Sunday. It took
2 bus rides to get there. Probably about
45 minutes. We are never in a
hurry. It was a little confusing when we
got there as far our as orientation. In
other words, we only sorta knew where we were on the Appia. As the name implies it is an area of ruins,
but we were not impressed. Compared to
all the stuff in central Rome this was disappointing. It was a hot day too, so we gave up after an
hour or so. We attempted to take some
selfies with our newly acquired selfie stick and even though they are
embarrassing we will post them. We need
lessons, Tamme and Jude.
Hopped on the bus back home and encountered the bus police on
one of the legs. I guess they check on
the big tourist days. Now, Ray lost his
monthly pass and we did buy another weekly, but did not validate it. People get off and on the bus without ever
validating tickets, but when we saw the cops we hopped of the bus. The fine is steep. We didn’t want to validate for a few more
days. I don’t think we are
cheating. We did buy a monthly and a
weekly, so they have a lot of our money.
