It was gorgeous day Thursday May 26^th, warm and sunny.  We started with the Mausoleum of Santa Costanza.  It has a mosaic that is in an art book we have, what else?  There are a couple of web sites if you are interested, just Google it.  Constantine built it as a tomb for his daughters.  It is now a popular wedding site.  And there was a young couple with a priest walking through the ceremony when we were there.  It would have to a relatively small wedding.  Perhaps in Italy the actual ceremony is mainly the immediate family and then everyone else attends a reception.  Who knows and more importantly who cares?  After the mausoleum we took the Metro to visit the Non-Catholic Cemetery to visit the graves of two English poets, John Keats and Percy Bysshe Shelly.  You may find this hard to believe, but we were not the only people visiting a cemetery.  It isn’t a big place and it was a nice place to visit.  Then we were off to visit the Parco degli Acquedotti south of Rome.  There were several aqueducts where we entered the park.  From photos on the internets I think there are some even more impressive aqueducts than the ones we saw, but the ones we saw were good enough.  There were quite a few joggers, bikers and people walking their dogs for the middle of a work day.  It would be a nice place to visit if you lived in the area, from the maps it is a very large place, almost 600 acres.

After that it was time to rest.  We have been on the go since we got here.  Thanks to Sue’s Garmin watch we know that most days we are walking 7-8 miles, today it was only 5 miles.  But Rome is built on seven HILLS and believe me you notice the hills.  Sue saw that it has been pretty warm in Chicago, it has been 22-25 deg C here, but today and Saturday the high will be 29 deg C.  I’ll let you figure it out.  Ciao for now.
