This day highlights how crazy we are with this quest for the
1001. Taking a 5 ½ hour train ride to
Genoa to see one painting.
Sat next to a family of 4 from San Diego doing a 17 day tour
of Italy. They were very nice. They were doing Rome, Cinque Terre, Venice,
Florence and Paris. They will be
exhausted.
Got to Genoa and the museum was across the street from the
rail station. We were the only patrons
in the small museum. That is always
fun. Saw our painting immediately, but
walked through the entire museum, which really was a former residence. Very nice.
Got a map from the museum ticket seller and walked around
Genoa and down to the water. Looks like
a lovely town. Very hilly. Had to try Genoa pizza and liked it. The salami was very thin with cracker thin
crust. Had gelato after. Found my new favorite, green apple, and found
another pink grapefruit. Boring Ray had
chocolate and vanilla. (I like vanilla & chocolate)
Back to the rail station for the 4 hour ride back home. It was the fast train. The scenery along the coast is beautiful.
Right on the Mediterranean, but unfortunately interrupted by miles of
tunnels. All the little villages along
the way are so pretty.
Got home late, around 11:30.
