Sunday after the English Mass at Santa Maria degli Angeli e dei Martiri we came home and had some more coffee.  This gave me a chance to see how we were going to get to the Galleria Nazionale d'Arte Moderna and then to San Paolo fuori le Mura (St. Paul Outside the Walls).

 

The Galleria Moderna has three 1001 paintings, unfortunately because of remodeling they are not on display.  But we went anyway.  They have one painting on display by an artist on our list with a painting in a private collection.  We just might count this one against the list since we will likely never be able to see the one in the private collection.  We also found another potential substitute for another private collection painting.  So you can add your opinion if we should count them as substitutes.

 

After the Galleria we saw that there was a tram stop right outside.  It took us a few minutes to figure out if this tram would get us to St. Paul Outside the Walls.  It would get us to the Metro A line that has a stop at Basilica San Paolo, so we were off.  San Paolo is the second largest church in Rome.  You really get to appreciate the size as you have to walk along the length of the church from the Metro station.  I’m sure you are getting tired of all my comments on the photos, I know I am.  So I won’t add any here, except to say that it is a beautiful place.

 

We went out to dinner at L’Orso 80 a restaurant recommended by Sue’s cousin Judy.  It didn’t disappoint.  Sue posted a photo of the anti pasti on her Facebook page.  It is a specialty of the place, and it was very good.  The rest of the meal was also delicious.  We stopped for gelato on the walk home (we did 9 miles!) at a place that was printing money.  They could not dish out the gelato fast enough.  It was very very good.  Ciao
