June 1, 2016       15:28

The train strike is a selective strike.  And we lucked out, sort of, the first of our two trains is running, Zurich to Mulhouse.  The next rain to Colmar is a local so there isn’t any information on the local train.  We will get to Mulhouse and see what we have to do, train we hope; bus or taxi if necessary.  We have a hotel reserved in Colmar, and more importantly there are TWO 1001 paintings at the Musee de Unterlinden in Colmar.  It is open until 20:00, so there is still hope.

We did get to the Zurich Kunsthaus to see #586/1001 “War” by Marc Chagall.  We have visited this museum before, and of course it is another great museum.  The best part was that it was FREE today.  It is normally 15 Swiss Francs each, but it’s free on Wednesdays.  I did take a few photos at the museum and a couple when we walked around Zurich waiting for our train.  That is all for now.

Update from Colmar      21:40
Well I did it again, but first the travel details.  As mentioned above we got to Mulhouse on time.  The local train was about 35 minutes later than I had scheduled but we made it to Colmar.  The problem was that my spreadsheet had the Colmar Musee Unterlinden open to 20:00 on Wednesday.  Well it is open to 20:00 on TUESDAY!!  So we did not get to see our paintings.  So it was back to our hotel for a beer and as it turned out a wonderful dinner.  For dessert we had the dessert buffet, what a great idea!!  See the photos for details, except for the dessert.

Tomorrow we are going to try and see three paintings in three different museums in three different cities.  Based on my performance to date the odds are not with us.  But we will give it our best.
