Church yesterday at noon. We just saw on TV that there had been a
shooting in Orlando before we left for church, but didn’t know much beyond
that. At about 14:00 when we got back
home we were shocked to see that 50 had been killed! Why does anyone need an AR-15? After getting depressed watching CNN we
decided to visit the COBRA Museum in Amstelveen, a suburb of Amsterdam.
COBRA was an art movement from
1948-1951. The name came from the cities
where the artists lived: Copenhagen, Brussels and Amsterdam. The mission of this museum is to “ensures
that the legacy of the international Cobra Movement remains in the public eye,
and that the intellectual heritage of the Movement's artists is kept alive.” Works from the COBRA movement form the core
of museum’s collections. Three of the
1001 artists were members of the COBRA movement whose paintings are in private
collection. So there was a chance that
we might find a substitute for one of the paintings in a private
collection. And guess what? We did.
