July 4,
2017 Amsterdam
We
didn’t do much today, and thankfully it was a beautiful day to do nothing. Sue bought a new pair of shoes to replace the
ones that fell apart because of all the wet weather. We went to one of our favorite benches along
the Amstel River and just sat for about two hours and watched all the canal
cruise boats go by. We eventually went
to one of our favorite little bars, Café’ Belgique and had a La Chouffe. The Café’ is located on a very narrow street,
almost an alley. It has a couple of
benches on the wall where most of the regulars like to sit and watch everyone
walk by. We joined the lads who were
there, and they gave the oldsters their seats.
After finishing our beers we set off for dinner at another favorite
place, the cafe de Brakke Grond. I don’t
know that we’ve ever eaten inside. The
Café’ is on a large courtyard with many tables outside. Quite often all the tables are taken, but not
today. We both had the house stew and
beer, and guess what. It was all
delicious, and I only had one beer today.
Then it was back to the hotel to go to bed early for our trip home
tomorrow. I put today’s photos in the
July 3rd album.
