June 22, 2017     Klagenfurt, Austria

There is one painting in Klagenfurt, and it is a four hour train ride from Vienna.  I was not able to contact the museum to confirm that the painting would be on display when we visited.  I posted a question on Trip Advisor asking if anyone knew if the painting was on display.  I got a response from someone in the UK who CALLED the museum.  He told me that it would be on display, and if not just ask and they would show it to us, and that was enough for us.  The museum was a 15-20 minute walk from the station.  Google Maps located the museum in another courtyard.  The only issue was that this museum had a different name, but we went in anyway.  We asked at the desk if the painting was on display and the lady said no, because they were setting up a new exhibition.  We went into our story how we came from Chicago to see this one painting.  She then said she would call the “other” museum to see if it was on display.  She called and that museum was closed!  We groaned some more, and explained the whole 1001 quest, then she went to check with “someone” about the painting.  She came back with another lady who then took us to the museum’s storage area so we could see the painting.  We got to see the painting and we took the ladies picture.  Then we went back to the station for our ride back to Vienna.  We went into a store that had very neat stuff, Sue really liked one zipper sweater, but they didn’t have the right size.  There was a lot of neat stuff.  They also had a window full of handguns and semi-automatic rifles!  Looking closer it turned out they were all BB guns, but they looked real.  We also passed another store whose owner must have really liked his dog Rex, because it was not a pet store.  That was it for our day.

It took forever to go through the Innsbruck photos!  There are too many in the album, and I didn’t post all of them.  It took a lot of internet searching to verify the identity of those 28 statues because of the confusing way Wikipedia numbered them, and I couldn’t take the photos in order because of all the school groups in the chapel.  I know you feel my pain.
