June 24, 2017     Budapest

The train ride to Budapest was only 2.5 hours.  We checked into our hotel and set off for the Hungarian National Gallery.  The Gallery is on the Pest side of the river so we caught a bus and off we went.  We got off at the bottom of a large, steep hill.  The gallery of course is at the top of the hill.  Sue spotted a funicular just across the street.  It was a short wait for a short ride, but it beat walking up that hill.  The views across the river of the Buda side are impressive, so of course a selfie or two was required.  We hurried through the gallery because we wanted to go to the 17:00 mass at the Cathedral.  We found the three paintings on our list and felt a little guilty leaving to find our way to the Cathedral.  I apparently made another slight mistake, the English Mass is at 17:00, but on Sunday, but there is an 18:00 Mass in Hungarian on Saturday.  So we went off to have a sandwich and a beer before Mass.
