Feb 26, 2024 Recinte Modernista de Sant Pau
We visited this site with Steve and Hannah. This place has several names. Recinte Modernista de Sant Pau is Catalan for Modernist complex of Sant Pau. I’ve posted a link to a site that labels it the “Hospital de Sant Pau: the largest 'Modernista' precinct in the world” and has more information about the place. The area we visited is no longer a hospital. There is a Sant Pau Hospital nearby, but with really modern architecture.

There is a map with directions and some information about the site. I’ve included a photo of the map. We kinda/sorta followed the guide sometimes. We visited for about an hour and half. Sue and Hannah were talking about some of the old medical equipment that was on display. Sue still has my mother’s hypodermic needle kit. Sue and Hannah were discussing when the disposable syringes replaced the reusable kits. The internets tells me that the disposable syringes replaced almost all reusable units in the mid 1950’s.
After our visit Sue and I went home to rest up before going out for dinner tonight. Steve and Hannah were off to see other places.
