Barbaars Naakt (Barbaric Nude) by Karel Appel is No. 396 that we’ve seen on the list of 1001.  This painting is at the Stedelijk Museum voor Actuele Kunst in Ghent.  The painting was not on display, but we made arrangements to see the painting in the storage area.  All we had to do today was get up at 7:00 take three trains to get to Ghent, and that only took 3 hours, and take a 15 minute walk through a lovely park to reach the museum.  After viewing the painting we took a tram to central Ghent to get some lunch.  We had a wonderful lunch.  Sue had a scampi salad and I had smoked salmon with toast.  Both were delicious, and of course we had beer.  It started raining while we were eating, so we decided not to site see in Ghent.  We had been there 2012.  The rain stopped on our way back to the train, and it actually is a very nice evening as I type this.
