to Chamonix
Our driving today was to see one 1001 painting in St.
Etienne, one copy of a La Tour painting in Chambery and an Olympic site in
Chamonix, and then stay in Chamonix. The
drive into Chamonix is impressive. The
first Winter Olympics were held in Chamonix in 1924. Chamonix is a resort town, there were skiers
walking everywhere, and parking was impossible.
We saw chair lifts and ski runs from the road as we drove around. We stayed a short distance outside of town.
