Nancy to Metz March 27, 2018
We (Sue) did laundry today.
There was one just a few blocks from our hotel. Along the way we passed a church, so while
the clothes were washing we went back to light a candle and take a few photos.
If you can believe it, we didn’t visit a museum today. We just took about a one hour drive to Metz
to see the Cathedral of Saint Stephen of Metz, also known as Metz Cathedral. Sue says that we should have kept track of
the churches we’ve visited, it might be more than the number of museums that we’ve
visited. The weather was nasty, cold,
wet and windy. We parked the car and
walked to the museum so Sue could light a candle and I could take photos. Sue had found that there was a small Templar
Chapel in Metz, so after the Cathedral we set off for the Chapel. Google Maps walking directions can be
tricky. They are basically the driving
directions, so it can take some walking before you know if you are going in the
right direction. This is all to say that
we did start out in the wrong direction.
We eventually found the small octagonal Chapel. We knew it wouldn’t be open, but we were able
to take a few photos. The weather hadn’t
gotten any better, so we headed back to Nancy, a pretty short day.
